Summary: CONNECT method not supported by ProxyHandler used in a chain
If one tries to use ProxyHandler to implement a proxy
which runs behind a firewall or simply chained to
another outbound proxy, by setting the System
properties "http.proxyHost" and "http.proxyPort", an
exception will be thrown whenever a CONNECT request is
Looking at the code, from line 372:
The fix for this is to check for the proxy system properties
one exists, the out going connection should be made to it and a
CONNECT request sent, a response read and then the handling
continue as normal.
This will go on my todo list, but I'm not sure when it will
get done. I'd welcome a patch if you have time.
